Content Marketing Begins After You Post Your Article
Content writing is a secret of success and can be the difference between a website generating revenue or going bust. Posting high quality content that readers will enjoy is the key, which is why marketers are now cleaning up their act and choosing quality over black hat article writing techniques. One important part of content “writing” is the “marketing” of that content. This is something that many writers and webmasters sometimes forget.
Properly marketed content will do more for you than simply posting as many articles as you can to attract readers. Your marketing efforts should not end with content writing. Taking it a step further will help increase your Internet presence and ultimately increase revenue from your website. Here is a short list of things that every content writer and webmaster should be doing after they post fresh content.
• Share your content
• Engage commenters
• Measure engagement
• Infographics and videos
• Use it for future content
Share your content:
This one is a no brainer and most content writers and webmasters do this regularly. However, it is always good to get a fresh perspective on the methods we use to share the content. Everyone is familiar with posting to Facebook and Twitter, but what about other social media networks (e.g., Stumble, Pinterest)? Creating an infographic for Pinterest (more on that below) is a good way to help market the content you just posted.
An additional method of sharing your content that is often overlooked is sharing through email. I make my most popular content part of my monthly newsletter. That way, it is likely to be visited again by those who liked it as well as bring new visits from those who missed it when it was first posted.
Engage commenters:
If you allow comments on your blog or website, then make sure that you respond to those who read and post. You also need to be aware of comments on guest posts such as this one. Respond to all comments regardless if they are on your own blog or another. Keeping comments fresh will not only help with reader engagement, but also show Google that the content is important and hopefully help with your search rank.
Measure engagement:
Measuring engagement of the content is very important. This will help you know if the content is working or not. If you find out that specific posts are viral and others are just dead weight, you can then decide which ones to use as links to other content, which ones need edited for quality, and which ones you can likely discard.
Infographics and videos:
Once you create high quality content, consider making an infographic that represents the information within the article. Also, if your article contains a “how to” or educational content, try creating a video to embed in the post or share on YouTube (linking back to the article of course). People love infographics and videos and both are great for those searching your content on mobile. As mobile searches have now overtaken desktop searches, making your content mobile friendly (e.g., adding videos) is a key to success.
Use it for future content:
Each time you create content, you should keep in mind that you can use it as a basis for future content. After all, Google not only likes backlinks, but also internal links within your website. As an example, I could use this article to link to another article about creating and embedding videos and infographics. I can link out from this article and create an internal link to the new one. This will lead to traffic for both articles.
No matter what method of marketing you use, always remember that your work doesn’t end once you post quality content. You must work beyond the post in order to market the content and drive potential leads to your website. After all, that is why you created the content in the first place. credit-n.ru
